Welcome, brave adventurers…
… to the nineteenth entry into the Heroes Rise chronicle. This episode was recorded on Saturday, 7th April 2018, and made available for download on Wednesday, 11th April 2018 at heroesrisepodcast.com
In this week’s Adventurer’s Pack we show you that you don’t need a 400-page Adventure Module epic to have a good time. Next we check out some D&D News as we cover:
- More Tome of Foes spoilers from Nathan Stewart and Kate Welch from the latest Fireside Chat
- And what happened when the Nightwalker faced off against the Drow Matron in Mordenkainen’s Mayhem
After that we take a Short Rest and visit the Gnomish Workshop to talk about dungeon design, before finally looking into the scrying pool to see what you have to say.

Hi All,
Just finished listening to your 19th show … another good job!
I’m sure your minions will have spotted this already, but Nathan Stewart has released a cleaner image of the Astral Dreadnought; https://www.sageadvice.eu/2018/04/11/release-the-astral-dreadnought/
AC 20 for those who are desperate to know!!
I’m sure that’s what Lennon said it was ……. (he is omnipotent after all)!!
Keep up the good work

Regarding the Underdark vs Undead Mayhem episode, I wouldn’t say that there’s malicious intent to throw the matches, but there is some questionable DMing/refereeing for what is effectively PvP combat. The DM needs to take a more passive role and enable the players instead of being so heavy-handed with is interference. While these “plot twists” may be planned out in advance, they do not come across as interesting and distract from the fight.
And I hit send too soon…
The number on the Dreadnought’s AC is most definitely 20. Even the Tarrasque only has an AC of 25, and I think players can’t get much higher than 26 or 27 without spells or class abilities, even kitted out with top-end +3 gear
