Heroes Rise, fifty-second entry: A PAX on both your houses

Heroes Rise, fifty-second entry: A PAX on both your houses

Welcome, brave adventurers…

… to the fifty-second entry into our chronicle, recorded on Saturday December 8th 2018, and released Wednesday December 12th 2018 over at heroesrisepodcast.com

For our Adventurer’s Packs this week, last week’s adventurer’s pack. See, we did record one as normal, but as we had the chance to interview Keith Baker, we decided to keep it back until this week. Next we check out some D&D news as we uncover:

  • The latest Fireside Chat with Nathan Stewart and Kate Welch
  • Issue 23 of Dragon+
  • Some more WizKids minis to fill your shelves with
  • And Ostron tell you all the glorious things that he can remember from PAX Unplugged

After that we take a Short Rest and go into the Gnomish Workshop as things get a bit challenging, before finally looking into the scrying pool to see what you have to say.

mThis Week’s Community Questions
Did any of the Dragon + articles catch your eye? Are you adding a sailing ship to your game, or perhaps thinking about incorporating a character with a disability?
Did any of you go to or watch a stream from PAX Unplugged? Tell us your stories.
How useful do you find Challenge Ratings when designing encounters? Is it a useful tool for judging the amount of potential death, or like Spelljammer, should people just stop talking about it?

You covered Challenge Ratings and asked if that answered my questions about CRs. Please tell Ostron, yes, thank you. That was what I was looking for.

The phrase that I couldn’t remember when I asked that question two episodes ago was “bounded accuracy” and I’m about to go away and read this article on the subject: https://heroesrisepodcast.com/bounded-accuracy

You mentioned the game “Dungeon Mayhem” (I assume from Wizards of the Coast) but I didn’t see it in the episode notes. You might want to add it.

Based on your discussion (“Uno in a Dungeon”), I ordered a copy of this game (though it won’t arrive in time for Christmas.
