My local gaming store, Game On in Warwick RI, is a great store with a friendly staff and on hands owner. They have a wonderful following and the community is second to none. I can’t say enough good things about them.
I really like the YAG’s. They are what you would receive in school or hear about the creatures. It is easier for me, the DM, to make each creature unique and tweak their abilities. Having the players know the exact stats of a creature is never a good thing. There should be a sense of mystery and dread when fighting a creature, not “Oh it only has 65 HP and it’s AC is 15. No problem.”
I started with 1st edition and really liked the early days of 3.5 I give my players carte blanche when creating characters as long as they can weave it into a good background. Number crunching isn’t for me and takes away from the spirit of the game…IMHO.
